Weatherization not only saves money, it increases the efficiency of America’s homes and buildings and helps to improve the environment.

Upgrading and retrofitting homes and buildings benefits the economy in many ways. Not only are we living and working in healthier environments, energy costs are reduced and JOBS ARE BEING CREATED.

The Recovery Act boosted Weatherization Assistance Program funding to $5 billion – this up from around $250 million in 2008.

That translates to jobs.

Professionally trained workers to perform energy audits will be in demand. To meet this demand for workers, there will have to be a huge ramp-up in training workers.

Did you know the Recovery Act also includes $500 million for green job training through the Department of Labor? Local Workforce agencies are funded through the Recovery Act to help pay for job related training in the Green Job Market.
