COURSE: Advanced Residential Green Building Seminar: To Net-Zero Energy and Beyond!


This 5 day intensive will go above and beyond basic green building techniques. Starting with a brief overview of the basics, this course will go into great detail on the 6 pillars of residential green building: location, sites, water efficiency, energy efficiency, materials, and indoor air quality. The course will help you prepare for the LEED for Homes specialty exam and provide details on how to take a project through the entire LEED for Homes certification process. In addition, full day intensives will be presented on building science, sustainable neighborhood development, and passive solar/net-zero energy homes. We’ll also cover methods of determining the economics of green building and understanding return on investment. This seminar is perfect for anyone wanting to go beyond the basics of green building, including architects, builders, developers, homeowners, and anyone interested in getting into the green building industry.

Introduction to Green Building

This full day course will cover an introduction to green building.  Topics include Sustainable Materials, Resource Reduction & Waste Management, Energy Star Appliances & Plug Loads, Energy Efficient Lighting and more.  Practical knowledge about harvesting & manufacturing of materials, transportation & shipping, advanced framing, off-site fabrication, jobsite recycling, structural concepts, finishes and design will be covered.
