Basic PV Design & Install

This intensive 5-day class will prepare you with the skills needed to install a basic residential or commercial PV system.

Students will go through all the steps necessary to design, layout and install a solar PV system, including the standard grid-tie and with battery back-up as well as off-grid. Throughout the course students will have hands-on instruction and training along with classroom presentation.

Upon completion, the student will have been given the necessary instruction and training to prepare for the NABCEP Certificate of Knowledge exam.

Curriculum:

Day 1: Solar and electricity basics, basic math skills, AC and DC electrical concepts

Day 2: Safety with electricity and fall prevention; PV systems components

Day 3: PV System Design, racking, roofing, equipment location, types of modules, efficiency factors

Day 4: PV System Costs, Quotes, Rebates, HOA, Installation Methods

Day 5: Site Survey, Layout, Requires DWGs, Certifications, UL, Inspection Requirements and Guidelines, NABCEP Prep Test and Exercises

Class begins at 8:00am and finishes at 3:30pm with one hour for lunch and two 15 minute breaks.
